Week 3 - Messing around with 3D Studio

1. Why do you think the user make renders at 2:22 and 3:18? Why do you think we don’t regularly make renders when working in Blender today?

The user makes renders to see what their 3D model actually looks like, as they have only worked with the wireframe till then. We don't do this in Blender because blender does live rendering for us.

2.  Which functions / buttons from 3DS 4 are in Blender too? Name at least 3 similarities.

a. The ability to create and move a light source

b. The ability to  apply and utilize textures with your model

c. The ability to move existing 3D models/components

3. What year is 3DS 4 from? Google / name two 3D games from that year.

3D Studio 4 came out in 1994. Both Tekken and Donkey Kong Country came out that year with 3D modeled characters.

4. Google any 3D modeling tool other than Max, Maya, or Blender. What's it called? Who uses it? Would YOU want to use it?

OpenSCAD is a 3D modeling software. Unlike Blender and Maya, it doesn't focus on the artistic aspects of 3D modeling, but it focuses instead on the CAD (Computer-Aided Design) aspects. I would personally love to use it as its main focus is for creating 3D printable models, and is thus used in conjunction with 3D printers, instead of the game engines we utilize.
